Series 4 of The Dumping Ground was filmed from 24 May 2015 until 12 November 2015. The same as the previous series, this series was split into two halves of 10 episodes each. The first half (4A) commenced airing on 29 January 2016 and ended on 25 March 2016. The second half (4B) premiered on 30 September 2016 and concluded on 2 December 2016. This series marked the return of the show being broadcast on Friday.
Everyone from the second half of the third series returned for 4A. 4B sees, one of the longest standing members, Harry Jones depart the cast on Episode 13; which leads to a new temporary resident called Sammy Doyle, joining the show from Risky Business (Episode 13) until It Takes Two (Episode 15). His Grandmother then returns from her short visit to the hospital and a new boy arrives called Joseph Stubbs; arrives right at the very end of the episode, It Takes Two. This episode also saw Ryan Reeves‘ sister, namely Chloe Reeves, officialy move in to Ashdene Ridge; following her guest appearance during the fifth episode of the season. This was other longest standing residents', Carmen Howle's and Tee Taylor's final series too; after they left during the episode, One For Sorrow. For an undisclosed reason, Mo Michaels's last appearance was on the finale episode of the series (Two For Joy). On the premiere episode of Series 5, Mo was mentioned to have gone to live with his Grandfather.
